Same-day ACH payments are becoming table stakes. Businesses demand real-time payment services. A recent Fed study [1] found a staggering 86% now leverage faster and instant payment services.

How Banks Can Get Started with RFP

1.   Enhance payment experiences on online/mobile banking apps

  • Send payment requests: Allow users to send requests for the amount due for everything from bill payments to splitting costs with friends. First, validate the Payer’s account capability to receive and respond to the RFP message. A zero-dollar RFP will validate the account. If this is not possible, send the payment request through alternate rails in the payment hub.
  • Seamless responses: Enable users to quickly approve or decline payment requests directly from their banking app.
  • Real-time notifications: Send real-time, time-sensitive notifications to customers. Notifications should go out when an RFP is received, paid, declined, or any other important event.

2.   API Integration for Internal Applications:

  • Functional identification: Integrate RFP into existing services, such as automatic loan repayment requests or insurance payment reminders.

3.   Monetize by Offering APIs to External Partners:

  • Expand reach with RFP as a Service: Provide RFP APIs to businesses that want to automate their payment processes. Fintech companies and travel, law and healthcare platforms are good candidates.
  • Commerce opportunities: Allow customers to respond to RFP requests at checkouts from their banking apps, while also supporting merchants to raise RFPs.
